Building Information Modelling (BIM)  a digital representation of a project's physical and functional characteristics, has emerged as a game-changer in the world of construction and infrastructure development. Building Project Department’s embrace of BIM has not only streamlined its processes but also elevated the quality and sustainability of its projects. This strategic move aligns perfectly with Qatar's mission to harness cutting-edge solutions that contribute to its economic growth and social progress.

Over the years, BPD has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to adopting BIM in its operations, from Bus Transport Infrastructure to schools, health centers, museums and laboratories, BIM has left an indelible mark on BPD’s project management approach. The result is a profound transformation that benefits not only the authority but also the nation at large. By embracing BIM, BPD in Ashghal has ushered in a new era of collaboration, efficiency, and precision.


 BPD’s proactive approach to adopting this technology has led to a steady rise in the number of projects incorporating BIM. From its initial foray into BIM-assisted projects to the present day, where the department proudly boasts 50 projects utilizing BIM, the growth is not just numerical but symbolic of Ashghal's dedication to innovation and continuous improvement.

The highly anticipated Cassation Court and Court Complex project will mark a significant milestone in Qatar's legal and administrative landscape. As Ashghal embarks on this transformative endeavor, BIM will once again take center stage, ensuring that the project's intricacies are meticulously planned, executed, and managed. With BIM's digital representation and integrated data approach, the Court project is poised to achieve unparalleled accuracy in design and construction management.

With 44 BIM projects and counting, BPD stands as a shining example of success in Ashghal, showcasing how innovation can redefine infrastructure development and contribute to the nation's prosperity. Buildings Projects Department At Ashghal Establishes BIM & Digitalisation Unit


 


The Buildings Projects Department at Ashghal has set up a BIM & Digitalization Unit under Engineering Support Section (ESS) to enhance infiltration of BIM and digital technologies into project workflows.

The aim of the BIM & Digitalisation Unit within the Buildings Projects Department (BPD) is to implement BIM and digitalisation initiatives according to Ashghal’s policies, showcasing excellence, adaptability, and a forward-looking approach in delivering building projects.

Key Achievements:

  •  Achieved a 42% year-over-year growth in BIM adoption
  • ​Cumulative projects implemented with BIM increased significantly from 2018 to 2024

Statistics:

  • Over 35 contractors and consultants involved
  • More than 16,000 models created
  • Projects valued at over 5.5 billion QAR executed with BIM
  • Over 1.4 million BIM specialist man hours logged


 

With an unwavering commitment to achieving world-class standards, the Building Project Department at Ashghal has implemented several innovation technologies in design and construction of projects.

Through strategic partnerships and cutting-edge technologies like Building Information Modelling (BIM), 360 Photogrammetry, Augmented Reality (AR), and Laser Scanning, Ashghal is setting new global benchmarks. BIM facilitates seamless collaboration, while 360 Photogrammetry and Laser Scanning ensure precise site data. Augmented Reality transforms project visualization and stakeholder engagement. Proposed technologies to be implemented in Ashghal, BPD are: IoT & Digital Twin, smart contracts, artificial intelligence.
