Modular Construction Implementation in PPP Schools Project Package 2

Project Overview

The Project involves the development of 14 new schools under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), two of which will be constructed using modular units. These schools, located in various parts of Doha, will range from primary institutions to specialized science and technology academies. The initiative aims to upgrade and expand the existing educational facilities in Qatar, addressing the growing demand for quality education services. The project sites vary in size, ranging from 14,000 to 35,000 square meters, each tailored to meet specific needs and conditions.

Construction Technology

Modular construction involves precision off-site manufacturing of modular components to enhance quality and efficiency. This method includes:

  • Modular Adaptation: Segmentation of the building into transportable modules for off-site fabrication and on-site assembly.

  • Module Design: Detailed design of each module, specifying dimensions, structural components, MEP integration, and interior finishes to meet all load requirements.

  • Digital Prototyping: Creation of digital prototypes using BIM and CAD tools for virtual testing and validation of the design, ensuring seamless assembly of components.

Application in the Project

As part of the innovative construction technology, modular units, comprising of steel frames, floor frames, steel walls, ceiling joists, insulation, and interior and exterior finishes, are manufactured off-site. They are then transported and installed on-site, streamlining the installation process, by specialist Refined Construction & Metal.
